プロダクトデザイナーとして現代の都市生活に必要な道具を作ってきました。
そして工業的素材とともに自然素材もまた数多く取り扱う機会がありました。
そのなかで自然素材の持つ奥深さ、美しさに惹かれることが増え、技術を学びなおし制作する場を作りました。

自然素材が量産品の中で扱われるとき均一でないものは規格外として大量に廃棄されます。
本来、自然素材の特徴は、一つとして同じもののないことであり、傷や割れ、
節やねじれなどと呼ばれる多くの癖を持つことです。自然素材にとってはそれは欠点ではなく自然なことです。
むしろそれが魅力であり、味わいのある個性でもあります。

このような自然素材の持つ特徴である一つずつ異なった表情や癖を最大限生かしつつ、
現代のテクノロジーと日本の伝統的な技術の双方の魅力を融合した、
無駄のないシンプルなそして生活を豊かにできるデザインを求めて制作しています。

As the product designer, I've made many necessary items and goods for the urban modern life. Through those works I've had opportunities to meet and use not only industrial materials but also natural ones. And the beauty and profundity of natural materials attracted me gradually. As a result, they led me to establish my own workshop at where I'd learn and practice craft works once again.

Mass produced goods made by natural materials are disposed massively when they are out of standard, because their quality and size must be uniformed. However, very same natural materials never exist. Each of them has own scratches, cracks, nodes, joints, wrenches and others. These differences are exactly superb parts rather than faults. They are precise reasons what natural materials are.

Therefore, I've been designing, producing, and making my works, in order to draw out the most of their beautiful features of natural materials. And also I've been trying to bring out the best of both Japanese traditional approach and modern technologies in harmony. To enrich people's lives in simplicity is my works.
